iPhone 15 and 15 Pro in Europe may lose the SIM card slot
The iPhone 15 and 15 Pro will be sold in France without a SIM tray, according to MacRumors, citing igen.fr. This means that smartphones will only support eSIM.
If the SIM tray is removed in France, it may not be available in smartphones destined for other European countries as Apple usually sells one iPhone model in most of Europe.
For example, the iPhone 14 Pro model A2890 sold in France is also sold in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Austria, Poland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, and dozens of other countries.
Apple already removed the SIM tray from all iPhone 14 models in the US last September, forcing customers to use an eSIM that allows users to activate a cellular data plan without using a physical SIM card.
Apple advertises eSIMs as more secure than physical SIMs because they cannot be removed from a lost or stolen iPhone. On iPhone 13 and later, two eSIMs can be active simultaneously.
